1. What does it mean to say that nonverbal communication is multi-channeled?
There are multiple ways or methods in expressing your expressions. The book discusses how you can tell someone you are angry and that is only one method but if you can show someone you are angry multiple ways via non verbal communication.
2. Explain one of the aspects of physical appearance as it related to nonverbal communication
Body Shape and Size - There are many aspects of beauty that depends on the culture. In many cultures plumper women are preferred over skinnier women. The body size conveys different non verbal communication in different cultures. For example, in the United States bigger women are seen to be lazy and not active where in 3rd world countries larger women are seen to be wealthy because they have enough money to afford food to become large.
3.What is one way that the eyes are used for nonverbal communication?
Your eyes often will show what you are paying attention to. If you are talking to someone but your eyes are looking elsewhere it can convey the message that you are not paying attention to them.
4.What are some touching taboos?
Strangers are "untouchables"
Harmful touches should be avoided
Avoid startling touches
Avoid the interruption touch
Don't move others
Avoid "rub-it-in" touches
